What Makes Us Different?
A Gentle Hand
Contrary to popular belief, Chiropractic does not have to involve large amounts of force. To be as specific and effective as possible, we utilize the Grostic Upper Cervical technique - originally taught and developed by Dr. John F. Grostic. This technique requires the patient to lie on their side while the doctor adjusts the upper neck with a gentle force.
Upper Cervical Chiropractic
At our office, we specialize in Upper Cervical Chiropractic. This is a branch of Chiropractic that focuses on the top two bones of the neck: the Atlas and Axis. These bones are unique in the fact that they are held in position by muscles and ligaments, rather than bone. This allows for a great amount of movement at the top of the neck, but also makes it more susceptible to misalignments. Due to their close proximity with the brainstem, a misalignment in this area can have very negative results. Our goal is to remove the misalignment in this area of the spine, allowing the brain to communicate effectively with the rest of the nervous system.
Meet the Team
CHIROPRACTOR
Dr. Josiah B Guerra, DC
Inspired by his grandfather, Dr. Jerry Felger, Dr. Josiah Guerra embarked into the Chiropractic profession. A 2022 graduate of Life University, Dr. Guerra believes in the validity of Upper Cervical Chiropractic, utilizing the Grostic technique to help his patients heal. He believes in the body’s innate ability to heal itself once interference to the nervous system has been removed. Chiropractic adjustments help to remove the interference, enabling the body to function correctly once again.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Taking x-rays of each new case is necessary to determine the exact direction the vertebra has taken in its misalignment. We must know exactly how it is out of place before we can adjust it back into place.
-
The speed with which you recover will depend on several factors:
1) Current health of the patient
2) How much damage has been done
3) How long the vertebrae have been misaligned
4) How easily the vertebrae can be corrected
5) How well the patient can hold their adjustment
6) Cooperation of the patient with the doctor

You can have a subluxation for a long time before pain develops. Only a small portion of your total nervous system is sensitive to pain. Most diseases only cause pain in the later stages.
If you want to keep your spine free of vertebral subluxation and nerve interference you must be checked regularly whether you are having symptoms or not.
-
We can adjust a vertebra only if it is out of place and causing nerve interference. If we move a vertebra that is in place, we will only put it out of place. That would only slow down your progress to better health.
It is just as important to know when not to give an adjustment as it is to give one!
-
Yes, it’s possible that symptoms may feel worse after the initial visit even though the patient is still in adjustment. Sometimes removing interference to the nervous system causes a greater sensation of pain temporarily. If the vertebra stays in alignment, however, the pain will usually subside given some time.
-
The misalignment of the atlas (the top vertebra of the neck) triggers an abnormal nerve action causing muscle shortening or tension throughout the lower back which often distorts the pelvis.
-
No, removing interference from the nervous system does not have adverse effects. Rather than receiving negative side effects, most patients will receive benefits in that other health problems will begin to improve. The body always functions better if interference is removed from the nervous system.
-
No, we cannot be sure that every case will get better or even feel better. Some conditions have progressed too far and there are severe limitations on their ability to respond. However, we know the body will function better once interference is removed from the nervous system.
-
As long as you want to function to your greatest potential physically, mentally, and socially. Regular chiropractic visits (for example - once a month) help to prevent further health problems down the road.

Although most of our adjustments are given in the upper neck area, all subluxations and adjustments are not the same. The adjustment is unique for each individual case and is determined by the x-ray analysis.
